Downsizing can be very distressing, but also a good life choice. If you are thinking about downsizing any time soon- check out these four steps to do it in a healthy way:
- WHY: Know why are you downsizing- honestly. Maybe due to a job loss or retirement- but still think of the positives of this change.
- BUDDY: Get yourself a buddy in this change. This reduces social stigma and knowing that you are not alone.
- DON”T IGNORE: Don’t ignore issues throughout the process. Know your reality and your emotions. This includes sentimental pieces of leaving.
- SELF ACCEPTANCE: Understand that your brain wants you to continue to get bigger and better things- whether it’s good for you or not. It’s okay to do what is best for you, not what is best for everyone else.
