We are going to embrace nighttime! Oftentimes nighttime is pushed to the back burner because we have had such a busy day that we just don’t want to do anything else. But the night is valuable recharge time. So try a few of these exercises to utilize the night and capitalize on its ability to rejuvenate.
- Turn down the lights and volume. Try to make the night a little more mellow but creating softer lighting and not bombarding your hearing. This can also do wonders to get you ready for sleep.
- Enjoy yourself. Try to do something you enjoy at night. End the day on a good note.
- Unwind. Everyone unwinds in different ways. Coloring books, soft music, or a bubble bath are suggestions- but learn about your specific ways to mellow out.
- Body Awareness. You have been up and at em for the whole day now. Take some time to feel your body and stretch it out. Lay on your soft bed, get cuddly warm, and feel your breathing.
- Tomorrow. Prepare your day for tomorrow. This helps you to relax because tomorrow is planned out and taken care of. This can also set up your morning to be less anxious, so that you can enjoy that time of day too.
My insights: I enjoy my nighttime routine, but it has taken years to cultivate. Nighttime routine is the element that gets sacrificed first. So I know I’m not doing proper self care if my nighttime routine is a poor.
