30 days of Magic: #12 Thankful

We are often very expressive about the exciting things in our life and how thankful we are to have them. But what about the aspects that we use everyday that we totally forget to be grateful for. Today will be centered on being thankful for the big things in our life, along with all the day to day elements. Here are a few ways to practice this:

5 objects: Identify 5 objects that you use on a daily basis. Do you appreciate them? What do they bring to your life? Do they make your life easier? Think about your toothbrush, cozy bed, etc.

My person: When was the last time you told someone who much you appreciate the things they do for you and the support that they give? There is no better day than today to let them know.

Basic needs: Take a moment and think about the basic needs in our life that make life so much better. Like food, clean water, indoor plumbing and so on. (Seriously take a moment to be thankful for indoor plumbing. Just saying).

My insights: I use being grateful for the day to day things as a mindfulness exercise. It is neat to see your life as if it was brand new and foreign. I very much appreciate people and things significantly more when I think about what they bring to my life/what it would be like without them. And I am so grateful that we have clean water to drink. If you see the water we have as a precious resource, it tastes better. Try it.

In the world: Walk someone else through these practices. This would be a good exercise to do with your kids to spread knowledge of scarcity and how to be humbly grateful.

I would love to see who is going on this journey alongside me- so use the hashtag #30daysofMagic, tag me with @jessietherapy (facebook or instagram) , or message me so I can share your experience too.

See you in the blooms Friends!
